Everyone learns Hiragana first in Japan or Japanese class. It's a lot easier to memorize than Kanji and they still spell real words. In manga they have little Hiragana symbols over the Kanji so people know how to pronounce it because there are VERY few people that know every single Kanji symbol.

This is the chart of the Hiragana symbols. They are a LOT harder to memorize because they're so swirly and such. If ya wanna memorize it copy down the table over and over and do as much from memory until you know it all. Hiragana is used for particles like no, sore (that) etc. Also if you have a Sailormoon manga that's all they use and since Japanese Dictionaries don't show you the Hiragana spelling of the words it's good to know what they can spell.
