Digivolving

Digivolving is the way that Digimon increase their fighting power. Simple digivolving can be accomplished by any Digimon either through experience or exposure to a Digivice.

All Digimon start as a Digi-Egg. They are "born" in the Primary Village where Elecmon looks after them. From there they Digivolve into their Baby/Fresh form when their egg gets rubbed.

When they're in Primary Village each baby comes with a crib but when the egg is hatched outside -like Poyomon- the crib is gone. Their only attack is Bubble Blow.

From the baby form they Digivolve to the In-Training form. They get a little stronger and bigger but their only attack is still Bubble Blow. At this stage experience is needed to Digivolve further unless there's a Digivice.

Rookie form is after In-Training. The Digimon develop attacks of their own and are a lot stronger. Most Digimon prefer this stage because they aren't too big but they are still able to defend themselves. In order to Digivolve again they either need experience or a Digivice.

The Champion is the final stage Digimon can reach with only a Digivice. They have new attacks and more strength. The Digimon are able to reach this stage when they are full of energy and they're partner is in danger.

The Ultimate stage can only be achieved with a Digivice and Crest or a LOT of experience. When the Digimon first reach that level with the crest they gain more strength and new attacks but it takes a lot of energy. They usually revert back to the In-Training form.

Mega is one of the strongest forms a Digimon can achieve. A Digimon can reach it through Warp Digivolving or if they are experienced enough through normal Digivolving. Warp Digivolving is where the Digimon skips the levels in between it's current stage and goes straight to a Mega. They can Warp Digivolve at either the Rookie or Champion Stage.

The final Digivolving technique discovered in 01 is DNA Digivolving. It involves 2 Digimon joining into one body thus increasing their fighting power. It has the power of 2 of whatever stages the Digimon were in -Omnimon: WarGreymon (Mega) + MetalGarurumon (Mega)= Double Mega. The Digimon have to be at the same stage in order to DNA Digivolve.

Items

Digivice
A Digivice tracks a Digimon's power. When the bars are full the Digimon is able to Digivolve.

Tags
Tags add a small amount of power to the crests and served as a way to find them but other than that they don't do much.

Crests
Crests are a source of huge power. They are symbols of the strongest trait the owner posesses.

Questions

1. Why is Gatomon always one level higher than the other Digimon??
Gatomon is always one level higher than the others because she's been fighting a lot longer. When she reaches a new level she has more energy so she can handle the power rush better. Since she's been fighting since she was Salamon the experience lets her stay at a Champion level. Also she isn't huge -like Birdramon- at her Champion stage so she doens't get it the way and it doesn't restrict her movement.

2. Why do only Gabumon (Metal Garurumon) and Agumon (WarGreymon) warp digivolve in the series?
Ok well this is my theory on this question. Gabumon and Agumon are the only ones that can warp digivolve because Matt and Tai were shot with the arrows of Hope and Light which gave the Digimon an extra boost of power. In the movie Angemon and Angewomon made it to they're mega's and the only reason I can think of is because they are the ones who shot the arrows so they have that kind of power. Of course they're probably an episode that has something to do with this and I haven't seen it or something... maybe it's the Destiny Stones that do it...

3. Why can't the other digimon reach the Mega level?
I think they can but the series was cut a little short because they ran out of bad Digimon to fight and so there was no need and in the next series they couldn't even Digivolve normally so there wasn't much hope of reaching a Mega form. Who knows, maybe they'll make it in a special movie of some sort.

That's all I have for questions. If you have one and think I'm competent enough to answer it E-mail me and ask 'em.
