All Digimon start as a Digi-Egg. They are "born" in the Primary Village where Elecmon looks after them. From there they Digivolve into their Baby/Fresh form when their egg gets rubbed.
When they're in Primary Village each baby comes with a crib but when the egg is hatched outside -like Poyomon- the crib is gone. Their only attack is Bubble Blow.
From the baby form they Digivolve to the In-Training form. They get a little stronger and bigger but their only attack is still Bubble Blow. At this stage experience is needed to Digivolve further unless there's a Digivice.
Rookie form is after In-Training. The Digimon develop attacks of their own and are a lot stronger. Most Digimon prefer this stage because they aren't too big but they are still able to defend themselves. In order to Digivolve again they either need experience or a Digivice.
The Champion is the final stage Digimon can reach with only a D-3. They have new attacks and more strength. The Digimon are able to reach this stage when they are full of energy and they're partner is in danger.
The Ultimate stage can only be achieved with a D-3 and Crest or a LOT of experience. When the Digimon first reach that level with the crest they gain more strength and new attacks but it takes a lot of energy. They usually revert back to the In-Training form.
Mega is one of the strongest forms a Digimon can achieve. A Digimon can reach it through Warp Digivolving or if they are experienced enough through normal Digivolving. Warp Digivolving is where the Digimon skips the levels in between it's current stage and goes straight to a Mega. They can Warp Digivolve at either the Rookie or Champion Stage.
The newest type of Digivolving is Armour Digivolving. Only Digimon whose partner has a Digi-Mental can do this. This is the same as a Rookie Digivolving to a Champion but since Dark Spirals prevented normal Digivolving Armour Digivolving was discovered.
A second type of Armour Digivolving is Golden Armour Digivolving. For this the Digimon needs to be exposed to a Golden Digi-Mental. It still takes the Digimon to a Champion level but the power is very close to an Ultimate's.
DNA Digivolving is only truly understood in 02. It involves 2 Digimon joining into one body thus increasing their fighting power. It has the power of 2 of whatever stages the Digimon were in -Paildramon: X-Veemon (Champion) + Stingmon (Champion)= Ultimate. The Digimon have to be at the same stage in order to DNA Digivolve. Since the power is so great the two Digimon seperate and revert back to their In-Training forms for the first couple times.
Mega Digivolving is the way DNA Digimon make it to the Mega form.
Mode change is the newest type of Digivolution. It enables Digimon to change the shape of there bodies, increasing their power, without increasing in level.
D-Terminals
D-Terminals are the 02 equivilant of a Tag with more properties. They act as communicators through e-mail and they store the Digi-Mentals.
Digi-Mentals
Otherwise know as Digi-Eggs these are the 02 equivilant of Crests. Unlike crests a person can have more than one but they are used when the Digimon is at the Rookie level.
When Gatomon Armor Digivoles is she at a higher level or stronger than the other season 2 digimon when they digivolve?
No. When Gatomon is well Gatomon she was just as strong or maybe a little stronger then the others. She couldn't defeat the bad guys without Armour Digivolving just like the others so I think she is just as powerful as the other Armoured Champions.
